Rebecca Ruvalcaba

Rebecca Ruvalcaba is the Executive Director at La Casa de Amistad Youth and Community Center. She has been the lead for almost five years and has built a sharp team at La Casa that undoubtedly understands many of the issues of the West Side of South Bend and of the Latino/Hispanic community. She also serves on the Leadership South Bend/Mishawaka Board, the mentoring board committee for the Scholarship Foundation of St. Joseph County, and is the Co-Director with her husband of St. Adalbert’s Spanish Choir. She recently was the recipient of the 2011 Community Member Jobs and Justice Award, and in 2010 received the Michiana Forty under 40 award.

Rebecca is a proud graduate of Washington High School, here in South Bend, and attended Saint Mary’s College and graduated from IUSB in 2005 with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and an Associate’s Degree in Spanish. She has worked as an Assistant Case manager for the Consolidated Outreach Project for migrant farm workers, worked in the St. Joseph County Prosecutors office as a Felony Victims/Witness Advocate under prosecutors Toth and Dvorak, and worked as a Family and Children’s Specialist in the Head Start Consortium of Elkhart/St. Joseph County.  Her work and skills learned, through all these avenues, have only made La Casa de Amistad a better place for the community.
